
Carol is driven by success for her clients. Her deep understanding of and fascination with business means she contributes more than just communications to business growth. She has spent the last 27 years in the public relations and marketing profession.
With an honours degree from Aberdeen University, she began her career in fundraising where PR and communications were essential, with leading charities Help the Aged and Oxfam. She was an early president of the Institute of Fundraising managers where she was made a fellow for her contribution to training and raising the standards of fundraising in Scotland.
She founded The Business in 1989 after a spell at Strathearn Advertising at that time part of the John Martin motor group, and as senior marketing officer with one of the leading local tourist boards, Loch Lomond, Stirling & Trossachs which was funded by three local authorities. She has grown The Business to be one of the best middle sized agencies in Scotland with a fine reputation for getting results, respect from the media and a quality client list.
Carol also founded the Central Women, a businesswomen’s club which encouraged confidence amongst those seeking to set up their own businesses and other professionals. It quickly grew to 140 members. Carol’s personal PR experience in the last few years at The Business has been on leading PR teams from the front, providing strategic direction and motivation, on innovation projects, on science and technology and economic development.
